ナターシャの最新の作品は、水と水面下にある深く隠された神秘的な関係を探求しています。特に、蓮の花は逆境にのみ咲く花として無限のインスピレーションを彼女に与えます。美しいものは暗闇から現れることができるというナターシャの個人的な信念の魅力的なメタファー。彼女は言います。「このような美しい花が、泥だらけの水の中で咲き、安心できるのは驚くべきことです。この蓮の花は全ての作品の中で描かれております。あなたの絵の中の蓮を探してください。」

Features of her paintings

South African artist Natasha Barnes’ vibrant abstract paintings have been inspired by her travels around the world.
I believe this is her role as an artist.
“All paintings are feelings, the things that are happening in my heart. There are quiet days, but every day is a painting and a brand new view of the world.”
Her latest artwork is searches the relationship between water and treasures underneath.
Since the lotus flower only blossoms in these circumstances, it inspires her endlessly.
Natasha personally believes that beauty only exists in the dark, an attractive metaphor.
She explains, “it’s amazing that such a beautiful flower blooms in muddy water without any fear. The lotus flowers are in all of my paintings. Please find the lotus flower in your own paintings.”
She further explores the complex nature of habitat and identity found in the waterfronts of Asia and Africa, drawing from her own experiences.
She explains below;
‘I am attracted by things which can be seen on and below the surface of water.
You cannot touch the same water twice. It’s temporary, but it’s also life’.
With her natural talent and pure passion for painting, Natasha has developed a profound and expressive style.
She confidently paints with water-based mediums applied in brushstrokes to create dense, textured finishes.
Her subject matter directs the flow of the paint, and with it, shapes take on elements of the unreal and move into the world of abstraction. Her work is characterized by vibrant colors and bold textures.
Natasha’s first exhibition was held in 1998 in South Africa.
Furthermore, she was successful in London in 2010, then New York, Singapore and Hong Kong at all of which the artwork sold out.
You can find her artwork at global companies and personal collections in England, North America, Middle East, China, and Australia.
She is the most published artist in South Africa and she was a finalist in the British Artist of the Year Award in 2017.

ナターシャの生活と作品の特徴

ナターシャは大自然、南アフリカの国立公園の大地の中で描いております。そのパワーを体全体で表現して描きます。
毎朝4時半起床アトリエのある国立公園の中を20キロ彼女は走ります。それを30年近くほぼ毎日走りつづけているそうです。
月曜日から金曜日までは、南アフリカの為にボランティア的な仕事や事務デスクワークの日々、土日に一気に絵を描いております。
ナターシャご自身で、多くの南アフリカのアーティストを援助しながら世界的に動き、活動しております。そのエネルギッシュな活動は、作品の中にも十分表現されております。
また、心の優しいナターシャは、南アフリカの人種差別を幼いころから見てきた人として
目の見えない人や、弱い人を助けております。
人として尊敬されているアーティストであります。全力で日々生きる喜びを精一杯体と心で感じながら生きている人でもあります。それが、作品の中に表現されているから面白い作品となるとわたくしは感じております。
日本はとても狭い空間しかありません。ナターシャの作品を飾るとその部屋が広くダイナミックに感じられ、自由であることへのあこがれや心の解放感をわたしは感じます。
作品から自然の美しさを感じ取れます。そして、ナターシャの作品を飾ると、とても洗練された空間へと変わります。

Natasha’s life and artwork

She creates her paintings surrounded by the nature in a South African national park.
She paints with her heart and soul.
Every morning at 4:30 she runs 20 km in the national park where her art studio is located.
She has been running every day for almost 30 years.
She performs administrative and volunteer work for South Africa during weekdays and paints on the weekend. Natasha is active worldwide and yet supports many South African artists.
Her energy is expressed enough in her paintings.
Natasha is also kindhearted; she is devoted to helping the blind and underprivileged based on years of apartheid in South Africa.
She is also well respected as a human being.
She is a person who feels the joy of living body and soul.
The joy of life depicted in her paintings is very interesting.
Japan has very limited space.
When you hang her paintings on a wall, the room becomes spacious and dynamic, leading people to feel freedom and liberation of the mind.
You can feel the beauty of nature in her artwork.
Spaces become very sophisticated once her paintings adorn the wall.
A small space becomes very spacious and you can feel a great sense of liberation.
Therefore, I think it’s easy for everyone to be fascinated and attracted by her paintings.
You can understand my feelings just by hanging up a single piece of her paintings on the wall.

ナターシャ・バーンズとの出会い

2017年8月に、恵比寿ガーデンプレイス三越から広尾プラザに移転してからこの広尾の土地で、新しいアーティストを探したいと思っておりました。そして、ナターシャ・バーンズの作品に出合い心惹かれました。
新しいアーティストとの出会いそれは1秒で決まります。ナターシャ・バーンズの作品との出会いも、衝撃的な出会いでした。
1秒！！見た瞬間に素晴らしいと感動致しました。

同業者のあるオーナーのご自宅で、はじめてナターシャの作品を見ました。あー本当に素晴らしい作品であると感動でありました。そのあと誰が描いたかを知りたい。すぐに名前を聞き覚えました。その次に、飾ってみたい、そして価格は？どうしたらその作品を求めることができるか？そのためには、どうしたらよいかを考え、コンタクトを取りました。
ナターシャは、すんなりOkと言ってくれました。コンタクトをとるときも助けてくれた女性がおりました。（今まではサイトでしか連絡しておらず）
このたび2023年はじめてロンドンにてナターシャと初めてお会い致しました。

ナターシャの性格やナターシャは、ご自分の作品を世界的に広めたいとの考えで、日本に作品をお送りいただき現在に至っております。世界的なパンデミックの中、なかなかナターシャにお会いできない時間があり、会えたときは、いつも心からナターシャに感謝と御礼の気持ちでいっぱいでした。そして今、作品を日本の方々にご紹介しております。

ナターシャからロンドンで会いたい、またこちらからもお会いしましょうとの事で、この度Londonにてお話をさせて頂きました。実はファインアーティストの事を別の日本のギャラリーの社長に聞いたらしい、その際、ファインアーティストは、大丈夫なギャラリーだから、ナターシャ大丈夫作品の取引をしてみたらと推薦されたらしいことをはじめてナターシャの言葉でお聞きいたしました。

同業者からの小社ギャラリーの信用の後押しもあり、ナターシャの作品との出会いが実現へと導かれました。
わたしは、いつも思います。心からアーティストに寄り添い、アーティストが大変な思いをして描いた作品を丁寧に紹介することはとても大事であると。
そして、私のその思いや気持ちを接客にのせてご紹介できれば本当に嬉しい限りです。
これからも一生をかけてナターシャの作品をひろめて参ります。皆様の応援を宜しくお願い申し上げます。

How I met Natasha

My gallery moved to Hiroo Plaza from Ebisu Garden Place and I have been looking for new artists since then, and that was the time when I found Natasha Barnes’ paintings.
It was such a dramatic moment when I first met Natasha Barnes’ paintings, and I immediately thought that the painting was beautiful.
I saw the painting for the first time at another art dealer’s house.
I was deeply connected to the painting and I thought it was such a beautiful piece of art.
I immediately wanted to know who drew the painting and asked for the painter’s name.
After that, I wanted to know the price and also wanted to know how to buy her paintings so I thought about what to do next and then decided to contact the painter directly.
There was a person who help me to contact Natasha and the agreement was received from her smoothly.
I was able to meet with Natasha in London in 2023 for the first time.
Natasha wanted people in the world to know her paintings as much as possible and that’s how we were able to have her paintings in Japan at our gallery.
It was such a hard time to meet Natasha during pandemic, therefore when I first met her I was so thankful and wanted to tell her my appreciation for her.
And this is how I am introducing her paintings to people in Japan.
Natasha offered me to meet her in London so that’s how I met her and I had an opportunity to talk to her.
I had never been told before but when Natasha received an email from us she asked one of the art dealers in Japan who she knew to ask if my gallery is trusted enough to make a contract with. The art dealer told her that my gallery is well trusted, and that’s why she made an agreement with us.
Because of this trusted art dealer’s recommendation, it lead me able to make agreement with her.
I always think to myself that it is such an important thing for me to introduce paintings with love and care.
And I hope that I can introduce the paintings with the painter’s feelings along with it.
I would devote to myself to introduce Natasha’s paintings all the rest of my life and I deeply appreciate your support.
About Natasha’s daily life and few tips to her art work:
Natasha lives near by the national park in South Africa and that’s where she is draws her paintings at.
She draws dynamically and powerfully.
She wakes up at 4:30am every day and runs 20 km. She has been doing this same routine for almost 30 years.
On the weekdays, she attends to volunteering occasions and does some office work, and she paints on the weekends.
Not only that, she is such a kind person that she is always supporting other South African artists, blind people and people with handicaps.
She is an artist who is respected as a person.
She lives her life with so much joy.
I think that her passion and her great personality makes the paintings even more attractive and appealing to people.
Japan has only limited space but once you hang up Natasha’s painting on the wall, the room changes instantly to a dynamic space.
You can see the beauty of nature and the space changes to a very sophisticated space.
I think that’s why people are attracted by her paintings even she is an unknown artist.
One glance at her paintings will make you understand my passion for the beauty of her paintings.
I hope from the core of my heart that you will feel the same way.

Profile

1969年生まれのアーティスト。南アフリカ出身。
7歳の頃より絵を描き始める。彼女の生まれながらの才能とアートに対する情熱が、このような奥が深くユニークな表現主義アートを生み出した。アフリカの壮大な風景や旅先での光景などからインスピレーションを得ている。
正式なアートの教育は受けておらず、クッキングスクールを卒業後に料理編集者兼フードスタイリストとして南アフリカマガジンで活躍したのち自身のクッキングスクールを設立。
しかしながら絵を描く事への情熱が、それまで築き上げたもの全てを捨ててプロの画家を目指すに至った。

ナターシャの技法は油彩とグアッシュによるもので、対象物を見る事なく、インスピレーションによって描いている。
彼女の作品は国際的にも評価されており、世界中でコレクションを見ることができる。ナターシャはアフリカでもっとも人気があるアーティストの一人である。
「私は描くことに身を焦がしている。いつも集中しスピード感をもって描いている。筆を走らせることは旅であると感じるし、たまには道に迷う事もあるけれど、だからこそ面白い。」

Biography:
Natasha Barnes is a South African artist, born in 1969.
She has been painting since the age of seven. Her natural talent and pure passion for painting has led this self-taught artist to develop a profound style, exhibiting unique expressionism, colour and movement. Her paintings are inspirations found in her travels and her love for the rich African landscapes surrounding her life.
Apart from a few art lessons as a child, Natasha has had no formal art training. After completing school, she studied Cordon Bleu cookery and worked as a cookery editor and food stylist for a leading South African Magazine, before opening her own cookery school. Her love for the brush finally led to the decision to give up everything and paint professionally.
Natasha works in Acrylic and Mixed media and her endless inspiration is absorbed through the mind and transferred to the canvas without looking at the subject.
Her work is exhibited extensively internationally and can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide. Natasha is considered to be one of Africa’s most published artists and will soon be adding Published author to that title, her book, A Journey of food is due for release in September 2014.
“I am consumed by painting. The moment I enter into my creative space a world different to the one now present emerges and I live in her embrace for those hours in front of my canvas. I work at speed and without interruption – believing that every brushstroke is a Journey, sometimes we get lost, if we didn’t the end would always be the same”
